X402 encodes payment semantics at the HTTP request level. Each API call or agent action can carry a payment instruction — no subscription layer, no billing middleware, no separate Web2 plumbing.

Target use: machine-to-machine commerce, metered access surfaces, agent-native billing rails.

Pharos is registered as Circle Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol domain 31. USDC moves via burn-and-mint — no wrapping, no synthetic exposure, no bridge counterparty risk.

Produces cleaner settlement finality than wrapped stablecoin approaches across any chain pair touching CCTP.

SPECIALIZED NETWORKS

Specialized Processing Networks (SPNs) route specific workload classes — oracle resolution, RWA pricing, credit underwriting — to execution surfaces that can correctly price and settle them.
